T-Shirt Order Due Date Postpone to this Wednesday 9/20:

Make sure to get your t-shirt order in by Wednesday at 5:00 PM.  No extra t-shirts will be ordered so make sure to get your order in on time.

Oliver Cast Giving Project:

Our students have already learned a lot about poverty in Victorian England and how Charles Dickens wrote Oliver to help the wealthy understand the plight of the poor. The first day of rehearsal we talked about how we can “give back” to people who have less than we do. In order to give our students an opportunity to apply what they are learning, we will be offering a special “giving project” in partnership with our inner-city branch, Haven Pico Union.   Our Haven Pico Union students will be starting tap classes this fall. Most of our Pico Union students come from low-income families and cannot afford their own tap shoes. Here is how you can help:

Donate Tap Shoes:

Have a pair of tap shoes that no longer fit? There will be a box at the sign in table where you can donate tap shoes that you are no longer using. Please only donate shoes that are in usable condition.

Donate $10 to Buy a Pair of Tap Shoes (STUDENTS ONLY):

This is not a campaign where we are not asking parents and donors to step in and meet a need. We are asking our students! Our goal is for our South Bay students to consider making a sacrifice by using their own money to buy a pair of tap shoes for a Pico Union student. There is no requirement for students to participate, but the opportunity will be raised at rehearsal this week. We value fostering a spirit of generosity at an early age and hope that this opportunity will give all our students a chance to see how they are never too young to make a difference.

(1) Make-up Kit

(2) Hair brush and bobby pins (we don’t share hairbrushes)

(3) Leotard (girls) or shorts and tank (boys) to wear under your costume for quick changes.

(4) A water bottle with a lid (no food and drink allowed near costumes, only water in a sealed container)

(5) Required dance shoes

Stuff to Leave at Home

Please leave the following items at home.

(1) Valuables (anything you would be sad about if it gets lost or stolen)

(2) IPod, Game Boy, DS, or other electronic games (cell phones should be on silent and kept out of sight, no texting or games on your cell during rehearsal)

(3) Jewelry (remove and leave at home all earrings, necklaces, rings, unless they are period appropriate and have been approved by your director)

(4) Painted nails – unless they are period appropriate

Ending Time

The tough part about tech week is that we need to get through the entire production each night.  We will do our best to end by 10:00 PM. Please feel free to text the Haven Phone for an update on ending times or come early and watch the end of the rehearsal.  Your child will call when the rehearsal is finished.

Parents

Feel free to watch dress rehearsals and use the opportunity to take photos.

Sign-In

Please sign in at the side glass doors.  If you do not sign in, we will assume you are not present and our stage manager will call you to find you.

Sign-Out for Tech Week

You must check out each night with Jacob to insure that your costumes and props have been properly put away.  Please make sure you sign out so that we know your parents have picked you up.

Sign-Out for Performances

All cast members will be released in costume to visit with friends and family.  Once a cast member is released, they are no longer under the care of Haven staff members.

Backstage

Parents, family members, and friends will not be allowed backstage during performances.  Parent volunteers for each performance will be given a badge.  The backstage area will be re-opened to parents after the show.

Costumes

Costumes are never to leave the building.  You should always change back into your street clothes after each rehearsal or show.  Please leave all your costumes, shoes, and props here at the church – even if it’s something that you personally own.

The following leads will be called: Sky, Nathan, Sarah, Adelaide, Arvide, Nicely, Benny, Big Jule. Dinner will be provided.

Sarah and Adelaide Early Start Time:
