Performance Shoes:

Shoes assignments for each rehearsal group are outlined below.  Please purchase shoes early so your child can begin practicing in their shoes at rehearsals.

Enchanted Object Ensemble – black jazz shoes

Featured Dancers – black jazz shoes

Townspeople Ensemble – black or tan character shoes for women, black jazz shoes for men and women playing men (OR men may also choose to wear black or brown boots)

Advanced Dancers (except Babette) – black jazz shoes and tan character shoes*

*if you only own black, we suggest asking around and borrowing from a friend before going out to purchase a new pair.  We have a few select pairs in our costume room as well.  However, if you are a year round performer at Haven, we recommend adding tan character shoes to your collection, as we use both black or tan depending in the show

Mrs. Potts – tan character shoes

Wardrobe – tan or black character shoes

Cogsworth, Lumiere – black jazz shoes

Lefou, Maurice – black or brown boots

Belle – black or tan character shoes, tan preferable

Rebekah Hellerman has been directing youth theatre productions for ten years. Favorite directing projects include Beauty and the Beast, Oliver!, and Sound of Music. She received a B.A. in Elementary Education and teaching credential from Biola University. After founding and building a successful theatre program at OCF Church, Rebekah established Haven Academy of the Arts. Under OCF Youth Theatre she organized and directed four successful Summer Theatre Camps, produced well-known family musicals, and facilitated outreach programs in inner-city Los Angeles. During Haven’s first year, she taught 2nd grade at Hermosa Valley and 3rd/4th grade at First Lutheran Venice. Rebekah believes strongly in applying educational theory and child development to directing children. She is consistently blessed by the amazing opportunities God has given her to work with these talented young people.
